Ashley Price established the company in 1988. The business has never advertised and through recommendation only, has steadily grown and now operates from premises in Welwyn village located close to the A1(M) in Hertfordshire. The business has evolved from purely a Mortgage Brokerage to include a variety of insurance services both for individuals and businesses.
This is a crucial area to provide not only peace of mind, but also to protect your family. With access to the whole of the market we not only chose the best provider but will also guide you as to how much cover so that your policy is tailored specifically to your needs. I am sure you are aware how 'serious illnesses' can impact on people's lives with 1 in 3 men and 1 in 4 women likely to be diagnosed!
Buying your first home is an exciting time, but it can also be daunting - not least because in and around Welwyn, house prices are expensive! As this is your first time on the housing ladder, we aim to make the process as pain free as we can and will explain all the necessary details making sure you feel comfortable and confident.

We reengaged Ashley Price and Associates when we decided to sell our existing flat and move to a larger home. Having used them for the purchase of our flat (a simple process which ran smoothly), it seemed an obvious choice to use them again. However, from the initial stages we were plagued by varying levels of incompetency and saw very little professional accountability by individual staff and the office at large.
A few of the issues we faced: - The agent incorrectly advised us on the required deposit value, despite knowing that we were non-UK citizens and having supported us with our previous flat purchase. This upset our budget after we were already well into the process, as we ultimately needed much more cash upfront than we had originally planned. - The agent incorrectly entered the purchase price when submitting our mortgage application, which resulted in weeks added to the completion time and almost killed the entire deal.
The agent continued to place blame on us for the delays, as this error was only discovered when we updated the purchase price from the original offer. However, had we not made this update, the error still would have needed to be corrected and delays incurred. - The agent was out of the country for an extended period of time, and often had no cell phone service, no access to the internet, and was generally unreachable - taking long lunches during the work week and missing our urgent calls. - The agent took five days to request support from a colleague when she was unable to access the internet to request a new valuation appointment, despite knowing the urgency of our impending completion date. - Both the agent and the entire office repeatedly blamed Santander for the delays.
We ended up contacting the lender directly to resolve the issue. Which they (Santander) took immediate action on and ultimately allowed us to complete on time. - AP and their staff relied only on what the online portal told them, and never took any initiative to contact Santander to proactively solve the problem. We were able to connect with Santander representatives on multiple occasions (even when the staff at Ashley Price said they were closed) and they (Santander) ultimately solved all issues. - AP staff repeatedly inserted stress into the process by alluding to 'issues' that they hoped the lender "would not discover" such as our pregnancy, despite the fact we had disclosed this on our application form.
The only reason this would have been an issue is if they (AP) had not disclosed this when filing the application with the lender. Did we complete on time? Yes, but the mortgage was approved only a day before we were due to exchange and was the only outstanding item for over a month due to the issues described above. It was an incredibly unnecessarily stressful process. I would absolutely recommend Santander, but stay far away from Ashley Price and Associates.
